Training Plans for ErgVideoTM

Classic and 2009
Training Plans have been updated to include downloads in the new ErgVideo 3 Training Plan
Format. The old ErgVideo 2 format will no longer be supported with new content,
and will not include new HD releases.
High-Def ErgVideos require the new
ErgVideo 3 platform, so all new training plans (yet to be published) will
likewise only be
available in ErgVideo 3 format. Upgrade to ErgVideo 3 today (available Sept
2010).
We've provided training plans for your enjoyment and
success. The plans can be configured to include the exciting 2009
content from France and Spain, in addition to the traditional 9-packs,
base-cruise, and base-hilly packs.
The Canadian 2010 National Masters A Road Race AND Criterium Champion Craig
DeBellefeuille attributes much of his success to these plans. His words:
My wife and I had a baby at the beginning of 2009 and at this point I knew that
I needed to get very structured with respect to my training as I would no longer
have time for 'junk' miles. Since I live in Calgary, a great deal of my training
is done on a trainer and as such it seemed logical for me to invest in a
Computrainer and, given my short attention span, some ErgVideos to pass the
time. I've been using the Cyclist Training Bible to self coach myself for years
but during the 2009/2010 winter I decided to make a change and followed the
Intellicoach Classic Training plan almost to a tee. The only changes I made was
to add time in the gym, replace some of the easy rides with commuting miles and
add in some rest weeks. The results have been tremendous. At first I thought I
was doing intervals too early in the year, and to be honest those first 5x9's
hurt really bad and I nearly passed out during the first 2x20, but in hind sight
they were perfect. Thanks for the great product!
What's the difference between the Classic and Advanced Training Plans?
I'll be blunt,
the 2009 plans are far
more challenging than the classic plans. Our new content is heavy on hill climbing
and hard tempo riding, and I couldn't bear to reduce all of them to simple base
training rides. You will get several good cracks at riding them at their full
intensity as you progress. I also felt that the Classic plans are excellent
beginner plans, especially for those who need extensive base training and
recovery rides.
The 2009 plans are a
big step up in intensity, and they should be approached knowing
they are not for
beginners.
I believe the new plans have more hard riding in the "sweet spot", and will
result in higher fitness, regardless of which packs you select. Be careful, if
it is too much for you...back off, skip some workouts.
When you add options such as the Base Cruise, Base Hilly, Euro1 and Euro2 pack
content, new workouts are introduced into your plan. The Euro packs are
inherently HARDER than the base packs, so you can expect that plans using the
Euro packs will be much more intense and difficult. If you find yourself unable
to complete some weeks, just start skipping some non-key workouts and taking
some rest.
